1.
The Ocean 03:30
Rain Keeps on pouring down Straight onto my heart Storms are closing in on us But don't you worry Cause underneath the waves The ocean stands still And time Is gonna heal our wound But always leaves a stain I just feel it burn, when you're around And there is nothing I can do or say A moment won't refrain You used to be my closest friend I was born, beside of you Walking down the same roads Holding by the hand Then we turned to strangers Then we turned to rivals Oh rain I got no home besides this rain I got no home besides
2.
Amazing 06:21
We find our way again A universe apart The body remembers The body remembers Tangled through the stars Opposites at heart It's in our nature But who is our maker? Cause there's a secret chord That we can only feel Surrounded by color Divided by no laws Find it amazing Find it amazing We fall apart again A universe apart Lingering embers The body remembers Find it amazing Find it amazing.
3.
The Return 02:49
For every sad and rainy day comes a better Take your time and moon around And just remember.. More than words Can define More than you Would ever find Every time you close a door a new one opens Doesn't matter what you choose, If you mean it There're no mistakes, only changes There're no ends, just beginnings More than words can define More than you, would ever find More than words
4.
Human 05:09
Why is it that you never talk? You never say a word Before it adds up and you lose control Before you wind up burning out alone Why is it that you never talk? You never say a word. For all the things that keep you up all night The phantom play, repeating in your mind How's it like in there? Do you revolve around yourself? Or are you wandering where stars align? A dot within a vast immense of time. Why is it that we never talk? We never say a word We're undulating noise, a shadow tongue, A rogue commune, we're fragile like a bomb. Now that we lose ourselves Inside these broken halls We realize there're things inside That light won't heal or bend Nor define. Now that we find ourselves It so hard to see What will be.. Why is it that we never talk? The world is slowly sinking in a hole The words are hard to find We need to try, we need to find our own.
5.
Once in a while It kind of slips my mind And when I think of you It feels fine Every now and then I kind of seem to forget Picture you smiling at me And I explode with joy And it is ok Though I know you will stay For only a moment or two I am there with you
6.
His voice can wear me down Surrounds me in non space Neither here or there Going up against the wave Then I let it wash me out In ruins.. Can't escape myself I can't escape myself Something's holding on to me He's my darkest twin A brother in between And he's always pushing Pushing me.. His words can wear me down We used to so close Then you turned on me With your haunting serenade I gotta hear it playing all day and night It has me spinning day and night.. Can't escape myself I can't escape myself Something's holding on to me He's my darkest twin A brother in between And he's holding on to me Can't escape myself I can't escape myself There's no silence left in here Words that never end I tried to make amends But it's always pushing Pushing me..
7.
Broken Man 06:47
Unspoken words come and find us a gaze so strong covers all our trails and we're alone at last Lips move apart bringing closer a voice in the dark whispers like we've never had our bodies graced with love It echoes like a dream throws me astray all the rest fade, slowly melt away Don't you feel time slip away? when the hearts won't beat, It whispers in my soul calling for you name whispers in the heart will it turn? To see you once again. You broke a man. bound to refrain. bound to refrain your haunting name.
8.
Can't find the words anymore Can't find the words. Stepping through the looking glass To make sense of it all Stranded in our separate worlds A faint whisper grows We're all connected we're entwined Through invisible cords What are we hoping for If time is not ours to own? Seed the desert with wild flowers To rise. What is the color of love? Where do I belong? Stepping through the looking glass To remember it all Alive

about

"Lotus" is the debut solo album of the Athenian composer and producer Vasilis Dokakis (founding member of Greek art rock collective No Clear Mind).

Fragile and bold at the same time, “Lotus" blossoms into a confessional work that marks an important chapter in his artistic exploration. A conceptual take on singer-songwriter form, bathed in a multiverse of textural layers. Despite the apparent darkness nesting within his vocals and lyrics, the eight songs of the album submerge the listener into a warm, spacious and open-ended soundscape through their meticulously crafted music. Writing, performing and producing “Lotus” by himself, Vasilis Dokakis paired up with drummer extraordinaire Chris Vigos who gave the album its distinct rhythmic signature. Contributing to the album, Fotis Siotas (The Ocean) with his abstract string ensembles and Dion Stritis (Human) and Dimitris Pagidas (Amazing) with their soothing saxophones.

Out on LP and Digital Album on 20 January 2023 via Inner Ear.

***
